ABOUT ME

The colors of the world longs for the light to give them life and I now find myself longing for that same light

in my heart through images of photography.  

​

Hello!  This is Haejin Kim, an ordinary mother of two teenage boys, who has found passion for photography in later years of my life.

​

I did not receive a formal degree or training in photography and my passion for photographer started with a modest camera I received as a gift which I used simply as a tool to capture the beautiful moments of my children.  

Ten years later, my simple desire to memorialize my children in photographic images now has become a very important part of my life.  

​

Emigrating from my birth country at early adult age left a dark void in my life with diaries of my memory that only existed in my heart.  Photography has now become my diary that will now forever capture the images and the stories behind those images.

​

Presently, I am an active member of Korean Photography Association (The Photo Artists Society of Korea- PASK) working towards qualification as a juror.  I have and continue to participate in various competitions sponsored by the Association and have so far been awarded two gold and three silver medals.  

My journey continues as I entrench myself to continue to explore and marvel at how the colors and images captured through

the lens of a camera can brings about more than just simple images appealing to the eyes but rather the thousand words behind them.

I am also a member of the Art League and have had the privilege to be invited into Gallery75.  

I am also part of formal and informal groups that allows me to share the love of photography with others who share the same passion.  

My desire and passion for photography extend far beyond my current journey

but I currently have to take smaller steps in that journey to also fulfil the promises of motherhood to my children.

I’m not a good drawer, let alone express myself through images created by my hands.  

But, I am often amazed how the pictures that I have taken through the lens of the camera gently contains my feelings

that I seldom express in words. Photography has allowed me to share these feelings and my diary of that moment with others.

Everything in the world is “Being and Becoming”... Something that has always existed is given a new identity through photography.
